Makkah and Madina is the holiest city for Muslims it is religious duty to visit at least once in a life time to all adults. Pilgrims travelling to Hajj should be free from all debts and can support their family during their absence. He should be financially capable of taking the tour. It is one of the five pillars of Islam alongside Shahadah(faith), Salah(prayer), Zakat(charity), Sawm (fasting during Ramadan), and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah). Those Muslim who fulfill these conditions are called mustati and financially capable of performing Hajj is call istita'ah.
Pilgrimage is taken on the 8th to 12th day some cases 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. Hajj is associated with the life of Islamic Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, of the 7 century, but Mecca significance is traced back to the time of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam.
Pilgrimage walks counter-clockwise seven times around the Kaaba, runs back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwah, drinks water from the Zamzam Well, goes to Mount Arafat to stand in vigil, spends night in the plain of Muzdalifa, and performs symbolic stoning throwing at three pillars to devil. The pilgrims then shave their heads, perform a ritual of animal sacrifice, and celebrate the three-day global festival of Eid al-Adha.
First rite of Hajj is entering ihram crossing the outer boundaries of Mecca, called Miqat: entails wearing plain garments - two unstitched cloths for men, or loose-fitting clothing for women. Pilgrim should follow certain rules such as not getting angry or engaging in sexual activity.
Head to Mina: It is the tent city where the pilgrims spent time in prayer and remembering Allah.
Collect pebbles at Muzdalifah.
Throw stones at the pillars.
Final days in Mina.
